Lift a parent, Raise a child.
Join us in #RaisingTogether for Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Help us amplify the message.
We know that the best way to prevent child abuse is to support parents. Unfortunately, the pandemic has left many parents without the support they need from losing access to childcare to isolation from family and friends while also experiencing greater levels of stress and anxiety. We can all play a role in lifting the weight from parents’ shoulders, and in doing so, we help give their children healthy, safe childhoods.
That’s why we are launching a Child Abuse Prevention Month campaign with a simple message: Lift a Parent, Raise a Child. We are calling on all community members to join us in #RaisingTogether this April. Put up a yard sign, “lift a parent” by recognizing them on social media, purchase a birdhouse activity to decorate with your loved ones, and share our social media content.
"This past year has not been kind to anyone, but especially vulnerable parents and their kids. This campaign- lift a parent, raise a child- is all about recognizing the resilience of families, children, and communities in Tennessee." - Kristen Davis, President & CEO
Request to pick up a yard sign.
Help us spread the word about #RaisingTogether! Pick up a free yard sign at any of our three office locations, Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pickup is only available at our regional offices in Nashville, Chattanooga, and Oak Ridge.
Acts of Kindness
Make a difference in the life of a parent you know. Every parent’s needs are different, but parents always appreciate the gift of time because there’s never enough of it on any given day! It might be dropping a meal off on their front porch so they don’t have to cook, running an errand for them, or reading bedtime stories over a video call. You can surprise them or take the time to ask what they need the most.
Share your story with us—it can be something you did for a parent, or a time you, as a parent, received much-needed support. We’ll post your story on our social media channels! Email your act of kindness story with a photo to Jonathon.Matthews@NurtureTheNext.org so we can share it.

Purchase pinwheels from PCAA.
Since the pinwheel is no longer our organization’s logo, we are not directly distributing supplies for pinwheel gardens this year. However, you can still purchase supplies for a pinwheel garden from the online Pinwheel Store provided by Prevent Child Abuse America.
